Solar photovoltaic (PV) uses energy from the sun to create electricity to run appliances and lighting. PV requires only daylight - not direct sunlight - to generate electricity. JPS offer several solar PV packages to suit your needs.
what is Solar PV?
PV stands for photovoltaic. This is the process by which photo cells convert sunlight into electricity. Solar PV panels are being widely used to generate electricity for homes and businesses across the UK, thus bringing about large savings on electricity bills.
what are Feed in Tariffs?
Feed in Tariffs are payments made by electricity suppliers such as British Gas, NPower, etc. for all units of electricity generated; this is known as the Generation Tariff. A further payment called the Export Tariff is also made for any surplus electricity fed back to the national grid. Payments are guaranteed for 25 years after installation.
- Generation Tariff: 21p per kWh generated (for systems under 4kWp)
- Export Tariff: 3.1p per surplus kWh exported to the grid
what are the financial benefits?
A typical 2.2kWp system could earn around £413 per year in Feed in Tariff payments, plus electricity bill savings of around £128 per year. These payments and savings ensure a return on investment of around 6.5% which means that the system cost should be recovered within 15 years.
2.2 kWp Example:
- Generation Tariff = £385
- Export Tariff = £28
- Bill Savings = £128
- Annual Total = £541
